P42DC 39 (2:30): Amtrak P089 SB. ALC-42 317 (2:51): CSX M419 very slowly pulls into Collier with some MOW equipment and the NC&StL heritage unit bringing up the middle. CM44AH 7100 (ex-AC4400CW 39) ES44AH 1851 (NC&StL HU; ex-ES44AH 3052) (16:45): CSX L229 switches some ballast hoppers at the North End of Collier. Of course they used a GEVO instead of a spartan cab today. ES44AH 3230 (19:45): Amtrak P079 SB. ALC-42 346 (21:02): CSX I033 rolls by with the B&O heritage unit in charge! This is my favorite CSX heritage unit, and its Royal Blue paint looks gorgeous. ES44AH 1827 (B&O HU; ex-ES44AH 3059) ES44AH 3195 (25:08): CSX I035, the following section of I031, soon follows behind. It does feel like the SCL era with all the intermodals. ALC-42 335 (29:11): NS V62 climbs the hill into Collier, and Amtrak P091 (33:34): races by Collier. NS V62 AC44C6M 4714 (ex-C44-9W 9444) SD70ACe 1117 Amtrak P091 P42DC 198 ALC-42 316 (36:54): CSX G???, a combined grain/coal train from the C&O territory, heads South. CM44AH 7316 (ex-AC4400CW 305) ES44AH 971 ET44AH 3460 (mid-DPU) SD70MAC 4819 (mid-DPUs) (43:36): I later relocated to the Ettrick Amtrak Station as it got too dark to see shit. Amtrak P053 rolls by. I still miss the P40DCs, and even the P30CHs and the OG Auto Train U36Bs. ALC-42 360 ALC-42 352 (45:01): Amtrak P093 arrives and departs. This is his last station stop on the North End Sub before he takes the NS line for the remainder of his trip. P42DC 68 (50:03): CSX L245 passes the Amtrak Station on his way to Hopewell. GP40-2 4418 (ex-CR 3321) (51:06): Two seconds of the Richmond skyline from I-95. (51:09): I was initially driving home, but then it came over me that my railfanning day wasn't exactly complete just yet. So I drove further up 95 to Ashland. Amtrak P093 arrives and departs Ashland. P42DC 11 (54:08): Amtrak P085 arrives and departs. P42DC 194 (56:45): Amtrak P097 rolls by Ashland with a few oddities: Right behind the baggage car was an additional Amfleet, an Amfleet cafe car still in Phase III, AND another Charger bringing up the rear! I have no clue what was up with that, but it's like Amtrak embraced DPU usage like CSX! ALC-42 324 ALC-42 315 ALC-42 305 (DPU) (57:45): On the way out, I stopped at Elmont as the signal was green.
