DIY Plate Cosy That Protects Your Hands Every Time!
I have made a number of these plate cosies for friends. Here's what I know...You cannot give a couple only one cosy. They will both want one. These cosies are brilliant for putting under a bowl or plate while heating food in the microwave. When the food is heated, remove the plate by slipping your hands under the plate or bowl . My friends who have one of these then also use the cosy as a little knee tray so they can eat while watching tv. The cosy continues to keep the plate warm and catch any spills. That is why you need one per person. In total I have used the equivalent of 5 layers of wool. I deliberately used rubbish wool for the majority of the wool , dont be fooled though this rubbish is still 100% Merino. If you are not concerned about expense you might like to use colour or a dark wool for the interior. This would make the top outside colour more saturated and intense. The bland coloured rubbish wool definitely does dull down the outside layer a little. I am now quite the convert to using olive oil soap for feltmaking. It is not essential, indeed , any soap will work but the olive oil soap is easier on your hands and better for feltmaking because it is less sudsy than dish washing liquid . I hope you enjoy the video and I also hope that you hit the like button if you do and Please subscribe to my channel. I would really appreciate that. I would also appreciate the chance to answer any questions you may have. I would love to hear how you go with this project. It is a great christmas gift to give. These plate cosies are also wonderful for dementia patients who sometimes appreciate have something smooth and warm to stroke. It is quite comforting for them. Best wishes Christine
