The United States launched a new set of attacks against Iran on Thursday as renewed fighting continued for the sixth straight day in a war that has narrowed to focus on control of the Strait of Hormuz. Washington appeared to expand its attacks late Thursday, with Iranian state media reporting that strikes had hit two bridges in the coastal town of Bandar Khamir, as well as a railway junction about six miles west of Bandar Abbas, a port city near the strait. There was no immediate comment from the U.S. military. Earlier, Ebrahim Zolfaghari, an Iranian military spokesman, had warned in a statement that “all infrastructure in the region” would “be crushed” if President Trump made good on his renewed threat to target bridges, power plants and other civilian sites.
