The shore of the former Kakhovka Reservoir is covered with shells, and white willow has sprouted from the dried soil. Ecologist Vadym Manyuk reports that nearly a year after the Russian destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant, a dense forest has formed on 150,000 hectares of the artificially created reservoir. The flora is diverse: most of the area is covered by willow trees reaching 2.5–3 meters in height, along with water dock and western hackberry. Over time, Manyuk says, the number of these trees and plants will decrease, and new species, such as elm and even common oak, will take root
