London Underground: The Amazing Victoria Line

** Commentary is contained in the closed captions for this video. ** Today’s film shows one of my favorite London Underground lines, the Victoria Line. It opened in 1968 and runs underground for the entirety of the line. It has been run with automatic train operation since day one, and it has been really optimized for speed. Trains accelerate and decelerate absolutely precisely, and there are no delays between stopping and opening the doors. Currently 2009 Stock trains are used on the line, which are very clean and modern. Also, the service frequency is quite amazing, with a train running every minute during peak times. This film shows scenes from Finsbury Park, Brixton and Pimlico as well as a short ride from Brixton to Stockwell. At Finsbury Park the film also briefly features a Piccadilly Line train, to which one can transfer from the Victoria Line across the platform. Enjoy! Filmed on October 9th, 2015.
