Setubandh Shri Rameshwaram Darshan सेतुबन्ध श्री रामेश्वरम् दर्शन #setubandhshrirameshwaramdarshan
Since ancient times, pilgrimage sites have held religious significance in India. To maintain this significance and to bind the vast country together in unity, the four most sacred pilgrimage sites (Dhaams) were established in four directions. Badrinath is located in the lap of the Himalayas in the north, Dwarkapuri in the west, Jagannathpuri in the east, and Rameshwaram Dham at the extreme southern end. Geographically, the four Dhams form a perfect square, with Badrinath and Rameshwaram falling on the same longitude, and Dwarka and Jagannathpuri falling on the same latitude. Rameswaram Dham is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Hindus, and along with the natural beauty, it is a massive and magnificent temple located in the Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu. Furthermore, the Shivalinga enshrined here is considered one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. Kashi is revered in northern India, as is Rameshwaram in the south. In the Puranas, Rameshwaram is named Gandhamadana. Rameswaram is approximately 425 miles southeast of Chennai. It is a beautiful conch-shaped island surrounded by the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal. Long ago, the island was connected to India, but later, ocean waves cut off the land route between India and the island, leaving it surrounded by water. The Rameswaram temple is reached by a nearly 100-year-old concrete bridge supported by 145 pillars. People traveling to Rameswaram cross this bridge. The view of the train passing through the sea is breathtaking. In addition to this bridge, another road bridge has also been built. Millions of devotees from India and abroad visit the temple. Built in the Dravidian style, this temple embodies the beauty of architecture and craftsmanship. The corridor of the Rameswaram temple is the longest corridor in the world. Here, Lord Rama, with the help of two powerful monkeys named Nala and Neel, constructed a stone bridge before invading Lanka, called Ram Setu. This is the same Ram Setu, known internationally as Adam's Bridge. Nala and Neel were cursed by a sage that anything they threw into water would not sink. This curse came to Lord Rama's aid while building the bridge. As the two warriors continued to throw stones into the water, a massive bridge was formed, which the monkey army crossed and conquered Lanka. Later, at Vibhishana's request, Lord Rama broke the bridge at a place called Dhanushkoti. Even today, the remains of this 30-mile (48 km) long bridge are visible in the ocean. These stones are still preserved for devotees to see at the Rameshwaram Temple. According to the Ramcharit Manas, the belief behind the Shivalinga in this temple is that when the virtuous Lord Rama was on his way to Lanka to punish Ravana for his misdeeds, he encountered a vast ocean on his way to Lanka. He prayed to the Ocean God for three days, but the ocean refused to grant him passage. Lord Rama then became enraged and aimed an arrow at his bow to dry up the ocean. Seeing this, the ocean trembled with fear and begged Rama for forgiveness, saying, "How can water abandon its natural nature? O Lord, you have bestowed this quality upon water. If it dries up, the countless creatures that inhabit its waters will also be destroyed." There is a way, Lord, to build a bridge with the help of two monkeys in your army, Nala and Neel. Here, I will calm my original qualities, the restless waves of the ocean, and protect the bridge you have built. Lord Rama, with the help of his vast army, Nala and Neel A strong stone bridge was constructed under the direction of... When the bridge construction was completed and the time came to depart for Lanka, Lord Rama worshipped Shiva by erecting a Shivalinga made of sand to seek blessings from his beloved deity, Lord Shiva. Knowing that Ravana was also a staunch devotee of Shiva and would be difficult to defeat in battle, Lord Rama, along with Lakshmana, worshipped Shiva. Pleased by this, Lord Shiva appeared with Goddess Parvati and blessed Shri Ram with victory. Lord Rama asked Shiva to reside forever in the form of a Shivalinga at that very spot for the welfare of the people, which Lord Shiva accepted. Over time, this place became famous as Rameshwaram... meaning Ram's God. Rameswaram is a beautiful conch-shaped island surrounded by the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal. In the southern corner of the island is a pilgrimage site called Dhanushkodi. Here, before attacking Lanka, Lord Rama built a stone bridge, each stone bearing the name Rama. It is believed that the stones inscribed with Rama's name did not sink in the water, and the monkey army climbed them to reach Lanka and achieved victory. This temple covers an area of 15 acres. This temple has undergone changes during the reign of various rulers since the 12th century. It is known for its magnificent beauty. The corridor of the Rameswaram temple is considered to be the longest corridor in the world. It measures 197 meters north-south and 133 meters east-west, with a wi...
