The Swiss company Stadler Rail, which previously proposed a tram-train to connect Plaza Independencia with El Pinar, is now raising the stakes and offering a network of several tram lines to cover the main corridors to the East, West, and North, including the use of the Central Railway tracks to transport passengers to San José and Florida. What does this package entail, which also includes construction, operation, and long-term financing? Why do its proponents argue that trams are better than BRT buses?
