The current valve is having problems with the internal spider gasket shriveling up. The installer explains his plan to cut out the old valve and install a new one, routing the pipes to the new ports on the sides. One pipe will go straight to the pump, while the other may need to be rerouted under another pipe. He cuts out the old valve and begins installing the new one with PVC cement. The first pipe connection goes smoothly but he accidentally gouges the second pipe, so has to start over on that section. It’s best to use purple primer and gray cement, which sets more slowly, he is able to remove the bad fitting and re-glue the joint.
