SEINE by William Eby

SEINE was inspired by Claude Monet’s Sunset on the Seine at Lavacourt (1880). I wrote “Seine” as if the music itself were water. It flows smoothly beneath the burnt sun, reflecting the gentle hues of the earth. From a distance, movement in the water may appear similar, but upon closer observation, we discover many variations. Similarly, the musical ideas are few, yet contain several variations, mimicking the infinite motion of the Seine. Haiku: Soft water rippling Gently pulsing in the wind Shimmering like glass
