Commonplace vs Zibaldone
What are the differences between a catch-all, a commonplace book, and a zibaldone? I'm breaking down three different notebooking formats that are part of my current analog ecosystem, and they each serve completely different purposes. The catch-all is my daily driver for the now. Schedules, to-dos, fleeting observations. It's my EDC notebook that handles whatever comes up during the day. The commonplace book is my indexed repository for professional growth, educational theory, and structured reading notes. This is where I collect and organize information I want to reference later. It's deliberate and organized. The zibaldone is different. It's a hodgepodge of impactful quotes with zero rules, zero indexing, and 100% inspiration. No system, no structure, just things that resonate collected in one place. In this video, I'll walk through all three formats, show you what each one does, and explain why I use different notebooks for different purposes. If you're trying to figure out your own notebooking system or wondering whether you need multiple notebooks, this might help you think it through.
