Magnus Carlsen OBLITERATES Alireza Firouzja w/ The SVESHNIKOV SICILIAN! (Magnus Sicilian Defense!)

Magnus Carlsen destroys Alireza Firourzja with his favorite Sveshnikov Sicilian Defense in this insane chess game taken from the 2024 Speed Chess Championships! This game was special because Magnus Carlsen launches an all-out kingside attack against Alireza Firouzja using nearly all of his pieces and pawns, and in the end Magnus completely obliterates Alireza Firouzja w/ his Sveshnikov opening! In the game Alireza Firouzja opens 1.e4 (best by test!) and Magnus Carlsen responds with his favorite Sicilian Defense, quickly heading for a Sveshnikov Sicilian. From there Alireza goes for the sharp line with 7.Nd5, and quickly follows up with the sharp idea of Qf3 and then Qa3 right out of the opening! Of course Magnus Carlsen was not amused and he gets his kingside counterplay going in the Sveshnikov opening with a fast ...f5, although he does attack on both sides of the board! Overall the game was pretty level until late into the game, when Magnus Carlsen turned up the heat and punished Alireza Firouzja for a series of tactical mistakes made in time pressure!
