Guardia civil denuncia las presiones del Gobierno para controlar la UCO: “Pincharon en hueso”

Civil Guard officer and author of the book ‘UCO. The Unknown History’, Juan José Mateos, appeared on the program El Cascabel to present his work and analyze the current situation of the force. Mateos stated emphatically that he believes “this government is the closest thing to a criminal organization,” adding that, for this reason, the UCO (Central Operative Unit of the Civil Guard) is investigating them. A Politicized Leadership: According to Mateos, since the current administration took office, there has been an attempt to “mold the leadership of the Civil Guard to protect themselves.” He pointed out that, while the National Police has had one director general, the Civil Guard has had as many as five. The objective, in his opinion, was to find a “party woman” profile, which they ultimately found in the current director general, unlike the first director, Judge Félix Azón, whom he described as an “exemplary man” whose impartiality limited his tenure. Mateos has also harshly criticized the Deputy Director of Operations (DAU) of the Civil Guard, stating that he has violated Article 5 of the force's code of conduct regarding "being a politician without resorting to base tactics."
