KOMPAS.TV – A multiple-vehicle accident occurred on Jalan Jamin Ginting at KM 44.5 in the Tiga Golang area, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, on Friday morning. The incident is believed to have been caused by a truck carrying gallons of mineral water that experienced brake failure while traveling from Karo to Medan. The truck then collided with seven vehicles in front of it, both traveling in the same direction and in the opposite direction. As a result of the accident, one person was reportedly killed, three people suffered serious injuries, and five others suffered minor injuries. All victims have been evacuated to the nearest medical facility. Meanwhile, the truck driver has been detained by police for further investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. The accident caused a long traffic jam because the involved vehicles blocked the road. However, after the evacuation process, traffic flow from Medan to Karo and vice versa has reopened and is gradually returning to normal. Officers are still waiting for heavy equipment to evacuate all damaged vehicles.
