Почему ожидание страшнее самой реальности

Why is anticipation often more difficult than the event itself? Why can a few minutes turn into agonizing hours, even though nothing has actually happened yet? In this lecture, Professor Valery Viktorovich Petukhov discusses the ideas of Fritz Perls, the founder of Gestalt therapy. You will learn how attention shapes our experiences, why anxiety forces us to live in the future, and how a simple shift in focus can completely alter our perception of a situation. Using the example of waiting for transport, Perls demonstrates that people often become so focused on one thought that they lose sight of everything else. This is why anticipation becomes more frightening than the reality itself. The lecture covers: • why anxiety arises; • what is "figure and ground" in Gestalt psychology; • how insight arises; • the "Live Now" exercise; • why attention determines our emotions. The lecture is delivered by Valery Viktorovich Petukhov, Professor of the Psychology Department at Moscow State University.
