Sessanta cavalli che hanno cambiato tutto: la storia segreta della Lancia Appia
Sixty horsepower that changed everything: the secret history of the Lancia Appia. In 1953, Lancia presented a small sedan with a 1089cc V4 engine and 38 horsepower, designed by the brilliant Vittorio Jano, at the Turin Motor Show. While the world was chasing raw power, the Appia proved that engineering excellence, pillarless construction, sliding column suspension, and inboard brakes could outperform any rival in the field. From victory in the 1957 Mille Miglia with Zagato berlinettas to Walter Cronkite's participation in the 1959 12 Hours of Sebring, this is the story of a car that changed the rules of the Italian and global automotive game. In 10 years, 107,000 units were produced, but its true legacy was a philosophy that we still find today in the best cars on the planet.
