Extra.ie FAI Cup Semi Final: Athlone Town 0-11 Dundalk

It was a game of two halves on Sunday night as Athlone Town faced Dundalk for a place in the 2020 Extra.ie FAI Cup Final. Athlone set up with two banks of four, four four two in the hopes of upsetting the odds and recording a famous victory. Things however did not go according to plan with the visitors edging it at half time with a 6-0 advantage. It was a tighter affair in the second half with Dundalk seeing out a comfortable 11-0 scoreline, Sean Murray with a finish to seal the win late on, easing any lingering doubts. It was a night to remember for Dundalk and a new record scoreline for an FAI Cup match. They will now meet Shamrock Rovers in a repeat of last season's showpiece.
