Alpine Single Track in Backcountry Idaho

Every year I ride this single track trail system as the kickoff to the alpine single track season. Deep in the backcountry, this trail hides a secret- the remains of an 80+ year old plane crash... As snow recedes, backcountry trail systems and the secrets they hold begin to reveal themselves. This one in particular, holds the remains of a plane that crashed during WW2. All eight airmen survived, though three of them left on foot with limited rations and a shotgun to get help. The remaining 5 hid within the wreckage of their plane. After 14 days, the men were rescued. To this day, the plane wreckage lies where it crashed decades ago.
