Float Fishing at Bake Lakes Fishery, July 2026 - Includes bombarda and waggler rig

A lot of people starting coarse fishing tend to be drawn towards floats. There is a strong and alluring appeal to them, especially when they just slide beneath the surface and you are not quite sure what is taking it under. Now, for me, I love float fishing but I am not a fan of going for species such as roach which, on fisheries, tend to be fairly tiny and can also reach plague proportions. I prefer to catch something that will pull the string properly, like carp. Accordingly, in late July 2026, I visited Bake Lakes Fishery in Cornwall, trying for carp with a simple bombarda rig and a waggler rig. This video tells the story of how I got on but it is also accompanied with detailed diagrams on the rigs that I used and, in addition, how to make up a hair rig.
