Playday on the Skerries

I have always loved using light tackle so the chance to have a playday on the Skerries, using an ultralight rod and reel, which a lady angler christened the ‘Barbie Rod’, to catch plaice, was just too good a chance to turn down. I also wanted to try a slight twist on the way I normally fish the predator rig, which can be really good for plaice. (I have caught more plaice on it than with any other tackle.) It turned out to be a difficult day, which was saved by the use of a number of tips that I have picked up over the years.
