Ukraine's children go back to school with hope for the future amidst the war and uncertainty
The school children from Korostyshiv #1 Lyceum, Korostyshiv, Zhytomyrska oblast in Ukraine describe the restrictions and obstacles created by war on their education and well being. An estimated 7 million of Ukrainian children have been affected by war; 5.3 million have suffered learning losses due to limited access to traditional schooling. Over 7,000 Ukrainian schools are inaccessible, some are closed due to security risks, others have been damaged or destroyed, and some rely on distance learning. According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science, 3798 education institutions are reported to have been damaged - and 365 of them have been destroyed completely. World Vision has been operating in Ukraine since 2022, and access to education is among the focus of our work. We are committed to ensuring educational continuity in Ukraine, reaching over 895,000 children in need since the war began. The catch-up classes in this video was from a World Vision supported project of partner Save Ukraine with funding from the European Union.
