Eleanor Monbiot, WV MEER Regional Leader in Kyiv: “Humanitarian need in Ukraine is worse than ever.”

Eleanor Monbiot, World Vision’s Middle East and Eastern Europe Regional Leader recently traveled to Kyiv, Ukraine. Her message from the field is clear: the humanitarian need in Ukraine is worse than it has ever been. With the conflict entering its fifth year, families face the cumulative trauma of multiple displacements and infrastructure collapse. The psychological toll is devastating: an estimated 20% of children have lost someone close to them. World Vision’s integrated response is designed to meet this prolonged distress head-on. During her visit in Kyiv, the Regional Leader visited active projects, supported by ‪@deutschlandhilft‬, the U.S. ‪@StateDept‬, @Ukraine Response Consortium, Acted Ukraine and supporters around the world, delivering essential Child Protection activities, comprehensive Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), and the operation of Child Friendly Spaces. These safe zones provide structured psychosocial support, seamlessly weaving mental healthcare together with ongoing education. While World Vision has reached 2.3 million individuals since the war began, resources are dropping sharply. Watch the update from Kyiv to understand the vital importance of sustained aid.
