CANCANO GRAVEL, esperienza imperdibile! - Valtellina in Bici

Today, for the first time, we're trying out a gravel bike, renting one from the e-Stelvio shop in Isolaccia. We hop on and pedal on asphalt to Pedenosso and then to the legendary Torri di Fraele. The road winds gently through iconic switchbacks, and on this stretch, we appreciate the bike's smoothness, which doesn't make us miss my superlight road bike too much. Once we reach the first of the two dams, the dirt road begins: light, compact, fast, and fun. We pass the two artificial lakes and climb towards the Alpisella Pass; at the top, instead of continuing towards Livigno, we retrace our steps until we reach, along Lake San Giacomo, the turnoff for Val Trela. After a particularly challenging stretch, we find ourselves on a fairytale plateau, and at Malga Trela, the sheep track gives way to a mostly rideable path that quickly takes us to about 2,300 meters above sea level. The descent is fabulous; the trail soon turns into a dirt road, then a paved one, and finally we return to asphalt near Pedenosso. The Gravel bike proves to be a superb bike! 0:00 Climb to the Fraele Towers 7:05 Climb to the Alpisella Pass 10:04 Climb to Val Trela GPX track: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IfGi...
