Basement Chapel Investigation | Historic Licking County Jail

During our private investigation of the basement chapel area at the Historic Licking County Jail, the VAPORS team spent nearly an hour documenting activity, environmental conditions, and responses using a variety of investigative methods and equipment. The session began as a focused EVP investigation before expanding to include additional communication and environmental monitoring tools throughout the evening. As the investigation progressed, the team utilized devices such as the Dead Bell, REM Pod, Spirit Box, and laser grid while documenting the session from multiple camera angles. Throughout the investigation, the team documented a variety of experiences, including unexplained sounds and footsteps, EVP captures, equipment responses, and other periods of what appeared to be communication. This video represents a condensed version of the investigation, edited from many hours of footage. One of the more notable moments occurred after the team heard what sounded like footsteps approaching Stephen’s location. Moments later, an audible click was heard and his camera unexpectedly powered down. Combined with other equipment issues experienced throughout the evening, the incident became one of several moments that stood out during the investigation. Another highlight of the session involved the Dead Bell, which produced some of the evening’s most compelling responses. Throughout the investigation, the bell appeared to provide timely and relevant answers to questions, quickly becoming one of the team’s favorite communication tools during the session. Whether viewed as coincidence, meaningful interaction, or something else entirely, its responses were among the most memorable moments captured in the basement chapel. Rather than focusing on a single moment, this video documents the progression of the session as it unfolded in real time, allowing viewers to follow the investigation and draw their own conclusions. The basement chapel proved to be one of the most active areas we investigated that evening, producing a session that continues to raise questions long after the equipment was packed away.
