Blink/Emerge

Composed by Justin Clarke Collectively performed / improvised by: Ayrton Foote: Nord Elliot Vaughan: Viola Justin Firefly Clarke: Prepared guitar 30 September 2023, Victoria University Adam Concert Room (Lilburn Composer’s Competition 2022) My approach to Blink/Emerge was to construct a narrative journey articulated through metaphorical sound states for the performers to inhabit. Prior to the performance, I outlined the intended techniques and sonic dimensions, framing how these approaches might be realised in practice. The work was performed only once, intentionally without a rehearsal, requiring the players to engage in real time with both the score and the acoustic conditions of the performance space.
