Hear It Coming

Hear It Coming - Trailer B “The future belongs to those who hear it coming” — a quote by David Bowie — is the source of inspiration for Hear it Coming, an immersive stage work for sound, light and bodies by and with Andreas Eduardo Frank, Marcus Weiss, Uli Fussenegger, Sarah Maria Sun, Jeanne Larrouturou and Thomas Giger, together with the SWR Experimentalstudio. Hear it Coming is a musical threshold experience: a spatially expansive event, a sound sculpture made of people, instruments, loudspeakers and light. There is no sweet spot in this piece. The loudspeaker system suspended above the audience, developed by Andreas Eduardo Frank together with the SWR Experimentalstudio, generates “acoustic beings and sound sculptures” from the sounds and movements of the musicians and the audience: a constantly transforming acoustic body that unfolds in space, wanders through it and changes shape. In Hear it Coming, the individual is shifted away from the centre of perception. The focus lies on an intense collective listening experience — a recalibration of the senses. Structured by six songs, the work unfolds a posthumanist narrative about restlessness, vigilance and the cycles of time that connect humanity and nature.
