In this lecture, Sheikh Abdurrazak al-Badr explains the important principles of raising children in Islam, pointing out the factors that contribute to the attainment of righteous offspring by the grace of Allah. Allah, the Most High, said: "Those who say, 'Our Lord! Grant us from our wives and offspring something pleasant for our eyes, and make us leaders of the righteous.'" (Surah Al-Furqan, 25:74) Also, Allah, the Most High, said: "Order your family to perform the prayer, and you yourself perform it patiently." (Surah Ta-Ha, 20:132) The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you is responsible for his flock." (Al-Bukhari, 893; Muslim, 1829) Imam Ibn al-Qayyim (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever neglects teaching his child what will benefit him and leaves him unattended has done him the greatest harm." Sheikh Abdurrazak Al-Badr reminds us that children's righteousness begins with the righteousness of their parents, sincerity in worshiping Allah, proper upbringing, and constant supplication for their offspring.
