Kafue’s US$300 Million Industrial Zone Moves Closer to Production as Investors Set Up Operations

The US$300 million Golden Baobab Multi-Facility Economic Zone in Kafue is moving from construction into the early stages of industrial activity, with machinery installation already underway and companies preparing to begin operations. Ten months after construction started in September 2025, the project has reached a stage where several structures have been completed and equipment is being installed for investors that have committed to operate within the economic zone. During an inspection of the project, Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet for Finance and Investment Siazongo Siakalenge said the development represents the type of industrial investment government has been working to attract through policy reforms and improved investor confidence. The development, located about 40 kilometres south of Lusaka, is being built by Golden Baobab Investments Limited under Zambia’s Multi-Facility Economic Zone framework.
