Observational Drawing, Line Drawing of a Leaf

This first video accompanies my book Sketching Nature. I decided to begin with an expansion of the Techniques section of the book, by discussing some of the images in the booking more detail. In this video I introduce simple observational drawing and measuring with an explantation and brief demonstration of a leaf outline sketch, using the simple leaf portrait format. The subject is a compound leaf, Rosa canina. I use leaf portraits on many of my sketchbook pagers and so it is a good place to start for a beginner.
