Indoor Soccer Tips Video on How to Use The Walls in Indoor Soccer: • Indoor Soccer with Walls Soccer Shooting & Finishing Book: https://amzn.to/314tnVt To learn how to get better at indoor soccer, let’s cover 11 indoor soccer tips and tricks. Tip Number 1 – Purposely Miss Shots When driving down the wingers as a forward or midfielder, play passes off the wall towards the near post. This will allow the ball to end up right in front of the net. Make sure that you communicate to your teammates that you will be doing this so that you will have someone crashing the net looking for your pass. Tip Number 2 – Take More Shots Rebounds off the walls can set up easy scoring chances. However, shots over the net do not produce rebounds. So, keep your head over the ball when shooting to keep your shots low and drive. Tip Number 3 – Rebound and Pass to Score When looking for how to score in indoor soccer, understand that most goals are scored from rebounds or passing the shooter open. Indoor goalkeepers are quite good at stopping direct shots because the net is much smaller. Tricks for Indoor Soccer Number 4 - Use Toe Kicks If you’ve ever wondered how to shoot in indoor soccer, toe kicks are one great way. They help avoid shots being blocked by defenders and catch the goalkeeper off guard. Toe kicks take much less wind up and are therefore much quicker of a shot. However, they are not as accurate so only use within 10 yards of the net. Number 5 - Don’t Conserve Energy In an 11v11 soccer game, your team often only has three subs and you may need to play 90 full minutes. Because you can sub out as frequently as you want, treat indoor soccer more like hockey. Work really hard while you are on the field and then get off of it for a breather. Tip Number 6 - Take moving first touches. Because indoor is so crowded, taking a moving first touch will you give yourself more time and space to pass, dribble, or shoot. Keep your toe up, heel down, ankle locked, knee slightly bent, and foot slightly bent when pushing the ball with your first step. Tip Number 7 – No Offsides There is usually no offside rule in indoor soccer. Therefore, keep your team’s striker farther up the field. This does three important things: 1. This creates more space in the midfield. 2. This makes counterattacking much easier. 3. This gives the striker more space to check back and receive the ball. Tip Number 8 – Know that You Have an Extra Player on Offense. When playing boarded indoor soccer, think that you have an extra player on offense because you can and should use the boards for passing. Tip Number 9 – Don’t always pass directly to your teammates. The rule of thumb is to pass the ball into space where your player is most likely to gain possession. Also, this is easily done by using the walls. Remember, the ball can travel faster and work harder than you can, so passing is essential. Tip Number 10 – Keep Your Passes Grounded Passes on the ground are necessary in indoor even more so than outdoor. A smaller field generally means closer defenders, so passes on the ground are easier to work with. Tips for Indoor Soccer Number 11 – Avoid Defensive Foot Skills Indoor soccer does increase the need for ball control and footwork skills. However, you should still pretty much avoid these as a defender. If the forward steals the ball from you, it will almost always end up in a goal.
