THE CARS - Drive - Bass cover

The song was released in 1984. It is about watching someone self-destruct while feeling powerless to help. The famous line, "Who's gonna drive you home tonight?" asks who will care for someone who has lost direction in life. The song never explains exactly what has gone wrong. The bassist (and also the singer!) on the recording is Benjamin Orr. In the opening verses, the bass is almost transparent, entering with patience and confidence. As the arrangement gradually expands, the line increases presence and weight. Bass used: Maruszczyk Elwood 5a Fretless    • Maruszczyk Elwood 5a Fretless Candy Cola -...   Recorded with Garageband and OBS Studio powered by Presonus Studio 68c. The sound chain includes Boss OC-5 Octaver, Empress Compressor, Sonic Maximizer, B85 Audio Overdrive, BOSS CEB-3 Chorus and SansAmp Tech 21 Bass Driver D.I. V.2 (EQ flat). Song info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drive_(...) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Not necessarily 100% like the original, but for use in a cover band. This is neither a studio recording nor a tutorial video. This is to honour the composers and previous generations of musicians and to enjoy the song as it is. Yes, there are mistakes and I hope to be able to play the tune better one day :-)
