Playa del Inglés Weekly Market – Rundtur vid Aguila Roja / Irish Centre (Maspalomas)

The weekly market in Playa del Inglés, often known as Maspalomas Market, is one of the most popular and talked-about markets in southern Gran Canaria. The market is held every Wednesday and Saturday from around 08:00 to 13:30 and is situated just behind the Aguila Roja Shopping Centre, also known as Parque Europeo or the Irish Centre. Since 2022, this has been the market’s official location following its move from San Fernando. In this video, I walk you through the entire market area and show you exactly where the market is located on the map, and how to get there from well-known landmarks such as Yumbo Centre, Avenida de Italia, the Green Field Hotel and the major bus stops in the area. Thanks to its central location, the market is easily accessible on foot from most hotels in Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas. The market is large and accommodates up to around 200 stalls offering a wide range of goods. Here you’ll find clothes, beachwear, bags, shoes, jewellery, sunglasses, souvenirs, aloe vera products, local crafts, decorations, toys and plenty of seasonal items. It is a classic tourist market focusing on shopping, colours, sounds and a lively atmosphere – not a food market. The atmosphere is international, with visitors from all over the world, and the aisles fill up quickly in the morning. It is the perfect place for anyone who wants to experience the authentic market buzz of southern Gran Canaria and see what’s on offer all year round. Prices vary, but it’s perfectly normal to haggle. Many sellers expect you to negotiate, and a common tip is to start at around half the asking price and see where you can meet halfway. The later in the day, the better your chances of finding good deals. Tips for your visit: • Arrive early to enjoy cooler temperatures and fewer crowds. • Bring cash as many stalls don’t accept cards. • Avoid nearby cash machines, which often charge high fees. • Sun protection is recommended as there is limited shade in the area.
