Area B, nuovo "Blocco del traffico". Cosa cambia dal 1° ottobre

The rules for Area B in Milan are changing. The large limited traffic zone covering almost the entire city has become even stricter: the goal is to reduce pollution and improve air quality. With the new provisions, effective from October 1st, certain older and highly polluting vehicles, particularly older diesel and gasoline engines, are no longer allowed to enter. The restrictions also apply to broader time slots: not only during the central hours of the day, but also in the early morning and evening. Enforcement will be tighter, thanks to a system of cameras and license plate recognition, already active at many city gates. Violators will be subject to automatic fines. Some exceptions remain: electric and hybrid vehicles, emergency vehicles, public services, and certain authorized categories are allowed to circulate. But special permits are more limited and strictly regulated. Residents and those who work in the city are advised to check immediately whether their vehicle falls under the new restrictions. The message is clear: the city cannot stop and Milan must play a leading role in the fight against smog. Meanwhile, the Area B cameras are already active: so be careful, because from now on, driving without respecting the restrictions can be costly.
