Landing on top of a cliff - Nailing the landings in my WT9 Dynamic

Join me on this stunning flight as I take the WT9 Dynamic to Bolt Head Airfield, one of the most dramatic clifftop airfields in the United Kingdom. Perched high above the sea near Salcombe in South Devon, Bolt Head is a short farm strip with incredible views and the kind of approach that keeps every pilot honest. In this episode I put my new-found landing skills to the test, navigating from our home airfield via Exeter and along the south-east coast of Devon, before setting up for a long final into this spectacular coastal runway. The day began with typical British uncertainty, grey skies, wind and rain and yet the forecast promised a rare window of calm. As the sun broke through the autumn trees on the drive to the airfield, I knew it was going to be special. From pre-flight checks and Dynon system updates to flight planning in SkyDemon, I share the full journey as the WT9 Dynamic comes alive once more. Along the way I make contact with Exeter Approach, manage visibility concerns near the coast, and take in the unforgettable scenery of South Devon from the air. On arrival at Bolt Head I’m greeted by none other than Keith Wingate, a true legend of British aviation, before watching his incredible RV8 roar to life and a Jodel D140 demonstrate a textbook three-point landing.
