These vehicles continued to change and evolve until the early 1980s, when the BTR-80, the last of the Soviet Union's ICFs, was designed and entered production. This resulted in the perfection of a vehicle designed with a combat doctrine that, sooner rather than later, would prove to have severe difficulties in applying it in the battle scenarios that emerged during and after the 1990s. However, it is a complete success in the armored vehicle export market and is currently operated by around 40 countries, so it is worth asking: What objectives was it designed for? What has been its performance in the conflicts in which it has participated? How beneficial or dangerous can it be for its occupants? Join me to find out in this new midweek bonus video, hosted by your host, Der Ausländer, and welcome to your military history channel.
