We travel by EC 9 from Hamburg-Altona to Zurich. This train consists of 12 SBB coaches, three of them are first class and one of these is a panorama coach. The special feature of this coach are the huge windows reaching up to the roof, allowing a panoramic railway trip. The route leads us over the 200 km/h fast "Rollbahn"-railway first, then through Ruhr towards Cologne. From Cologne we follow the Rhine river all the way into Switzerland, using the famous left Rhine railway, as well as some fast sections, for example the Katzenberg-tunnel. In Basel SBB Deutsche Bahn, which run the train to this point, hands the train over to SBB. Also the locomotive gets changed from DB Class 101 to SBB Re 460 during the change of travel direction. And that´s how the last hour of the ride through Switzerland takes place.
