Una camminata per "unire" le due Diocesi

The long-awaited pilgrimage that united the dioceses of Pistoia and Pescia, both physically and spiritually, concluded in the evening of Saturday, July 4th. Born from the desire of the new Bishop Augusto Mascagna to realize the concept of a "synodal church," the event represented a concrete opportunity to stop talking about it and finally begin to walk together in earnest. The group set out at 4:00 PM, departing from San Jacopo (Pistoia) immediately after the initial blessing. The route covered approximately 16 kilometers. Some of the intermediate stops in the area included the Madonna dell'Umiltà, the Vicofaro area, the evocative Giaccherino Convent, up to Groppoli and Serravalle Pistoiese. The pilgrims then arrived in Monsummano Terme... here, in front of the sanctuary of the Madonna della Fontenuova, His Excellency Bishop Mascagna celebrated the Eucharist outdoors. This pilgrimage between "sister churches" proved to be an opportunity for spiritual union to entrust and recommend oneself to the respective saints: San Jacopo and the Madonna di Fontenuova.
