Don Mascagna verso l'ordinazione... insieme ai giovani

Bishop-elect Don Augusto Mascagna wanted the young people around him in the final stages of his preparation for Sunday's ordination. A Prayer Vigil was held in the Basilica of Our Lady of Humility, along with the Youth Ministry of Pistoia and Pescia. The Gospel, the Ring, the Miter, and the Crosier were the liturgical symbols that the young people ideally handed over to the new Bishop, as they will do during the ordination rite. The ring, Don Augusto confided, is the one closest to his heart. "Now," he said, "I too will be able to pronounce my vows, as I have heard so many couples do with such deep love during my priesthood." In his words, he then cited the book of Ruth... a few pages of the Old Testament dedicated to a woman, a foreigner, a widow, who chooses with great loyalty not to abandon her elderly mother-in-law Naomi... from her, the last of the last, the genealogy of Jesus will originate. "A disarming smallness..." ... small and at the same time disarming, like the face of the Madonna... And he cited Our Lady of Humility, Saint John with the Madonna of Della Robbia, the one of Fontenuova in Monsummano, the one of Valdibrana... and it is from there that the new bishop's journey will begin on Sunday morning.
