What if Robb Stark Married Myrcella Baratheon
What if Robb Stark Married Myrcella Baratheon? Let’s explore the depths of it in the video. As Robert begins walking away, Ned lingers to ponder the implication of this. A great honor to be sure, and one most lords would kill for. And yet, Ned is not one of them and cannot help but worry. He has nothing against Robert as a good brother, but he has an issue with Joffrey. He has heard rumors about him from Jon Arryn, some unsavory things about the young prince, and how he is cruel, sullen, and arrogant. While Robert thrills at battle, Joffrey simply enjoys causing pain. Even if they weren’t true, he still worries about Sansa. While she sees the court through the lens of a fairy tale, Ned’s brief experience is enough for him to steer clear of it. The last thing he wants is to drag his daughters into it. Ned: Wait, your grace, perhaps we should reconsider this. Robert: Reconsider what, exactly? Are you rejecting my proposal? Ned: No, not rejecting. I simply have another idea. You want to join our houses and for me to be your Hand. Well, as your Hand, this is a proposal that might not be in your best interest. The crown prince should be married off to someone who can help secure loyalty; giving it to your Hand might anger some of your bannermen. Robert: Let them stay mad. You are my oldest friend and my most loyal bannermen. Why shouldn’t I reward good service? Ned: Well then, may I offer another solution? Perhaps instead of your son and my daughter, what of my son and heir? He will soon be a lord in his own right, and I hear your daughter is sweet and kind, and smart. I am sure Robb will have no issue with that. Robert: So you wish to swap a daughter for a son and my son for a daughter. Laughs. Fine, fine. Whatever you wish, Lord Hand. Ned breathes a sigh of relief when Robert accepts this offer. To him, it is just details, but for Ned, it makes all the difference. At the very least, he does not have to worry about Sansa having to remain in King’s Landing without him to protect her. If anything, now it raises the idea of Myrcella remaining in Winterfell to get to know her future husband, just as Ned’s daughters will journey south with him. The news of this wedding announcement is met with applause and cheers from the North and the court, who see it as honoring the Starks. The only person who seems upset by it is Cersei, who isn’t keen on marrying off her daughter to some Northern Lord ruling off the frozen edge of the world. She tries to protest, but these fall on deaf ears. There is no reason for her to reject this proposal. But as the celebration dies down, disaster strikes as Bran has an accident and tumbles off a tower. This leaves him in a coma and many fear for his life, his brother chief amongst them. Myrcella finds Robb in the Godswood, cursing to himself and swinging his sword at an imaginary foe to try and clear his head. He is so caught up with his exercise that he barely notices the princess who offers a quick courtesy. Myrcella: Lord Robb, apologies for the interruption. I just wanted to visit you and see how you were doing. Robb: Hello there, princess. Apologies, you had to see that. I just wished for some time alone. Myrcella: There is nothing to apologize for. I’m sorry about Bran, but I’m sure he will be ok. He seems like a strong boy. I would be proud to have him as a good brother when we are wed. Robb: Thank you, princess, but begging your pardon, I do not wish to talk about our betrothal now. Myrcella blinks in surprise and, for a moment, appears hurt. But then, she slowly nods in understanding as she makes her way over and sits beside him. After a moment’s hesitation, she places a hand on his shoulder. Myrcella: You are angry, I would be the same way too if something were to happen to Tommen. It’s terrible to experience, and I want you to know that the royal family weeps with you as well. Robb: Thank you. It’s just that…Bran is kind and sweet. He doesn’t deserve this. Myrcella: No child does. But he is also quick and smart by the looks of it. If anyone will survive, it’s Bran. Robb smiles, and the tension in his chest eases for a moment. And then, he looks over at the young princess. Robb: You mentioned Tommen, but what if it had been Joffrey who fell? How would you feel then? Myrcella: If it were Joffrey, then he likely didn’t fall out of a tower. He would have been pushed, and I’m certain whoever did it would have good reason.
