How to up level your nutrition game.
How you can uplevel your ‘nutrition game’ -there’s always more we can do! Nutrition supports every area of health -is there anything you can uplevel? 1. Can you make something or more things from scratch? Be realistic of course. 2. Plan your breakfast and lunch again keep it realistic but putting some thought into these two meals can be a game-changer. It’s often breakfast and lunch that are the least nutritious meals, usually because we are grabbing something on the go. Now and then -perhaps on your busiest day plan your breakfast (to keep energy levels even) and lunch (to prevent energy slumps and sugar cravings). Consider stocking up on some store cupboard staples like tinned lentils and have some things in the fridge that last a while. 3. Can you diversify your diet? This supports the gut microbiome and also ensures a broader range of nutrients. Add more colour, fruit, veg, herbs and spices. Also diversify other foods such as meats, cheese, nuts, sea foods. Adding a few herbs can really boost your nutrients. 4. Can you grow your own? Herbs can be simple -on windowsills or in pots. My herbs are just about alive -the sage has died! 5. Can you add fermented foods? They don’t suit everyone but can support good gut bacteria. Examples include fermented veg -sauerkraut, kimchi, green olives, kefir and live yoghurt, kombucha and miso. 6.
