Album 16 Track 123 ‪@ThePeninsulaStudios‬ Composition in Raga Charukeshi (composed by Dr. Jayanthi Kumaresh) The Veena, Tabla and Ghatam present a very brisk and catchy composition in Charukesi that is set to Aadhi Taal (Teen Taal). The composition has several layers of patterns interwoven into its texture. There are sections where the rhythm is kept constant and different patterns are woven in the melodic form and vice-versa. It is then followed by improvisation which has a sawal-jawab section between the melodic and rhythmic instruments and finally culminates in a Thihayi that forms the climax to the piece. Dr. Jayanthi Kumaresh A sixth generation musician who has been performing since the age of 15, five time recipient of The Music Academy, Chennai’s “Award for Veena”, a researcher who holds a Doctorate for her work on “styles and playing techniques of the Saraswathi veena”, Dr. Jayanthi Kumaresh has been captivating audiences around the world for 30 years now and is one of the leading Veena artistes today.
