Car after car, small car after small car. Thus begins the Sunday of good people on one of our southernmost beaches. After a suspenseful ride—there's always the danger of a deck chair or umbrella falling on the heads of those trying to overtake—they arrive at the longed-for Lido. Tents are finally pitched, and that's not just a figure of speech. There's a crowded crowd where bodies compete for a meter of sand and a sliver of sun: there's dad, mom, daughter, daughter's boyfriend who waited until summer to see her undress, the dog who isn't seen because he's currently in the water, and the mother-in-law. Finally, the rather large mother-in-law lets go of her surveillance and heads toward the water, anxiously. It's not her who's anxious, of course, but the sea. So, after asking permission, they can go swimming. Soon it will be evening, and they'll return home satisfied. How romantic is an August Sunday at the seaside.
