Making a Renaissance Corset and Chemise to wear to the RenFaire | 18th Century Stays for RenFest
First off I am aware that during the Renaissance period stays were either non-existent or very new, and corsets definitely didn't exist in the way we think of them today! But YouTube SEO loves corsets so here we are. I am SO excited for the Renaissance Festival! Pittsburgh doesn't have a very good one so I haven't been in ages, but now that we've moved good RenFaire's are less than four hours away! I've never made a full (or even part of) an outfit for myself since I was not great at sewing in high school, so I'm taking this opportunity to make myself a base wardrobe šThis month I'll be making a fairy costume for myself to wear to the Renaissance Festival at the end of the month. I started and made this whole costume during October but because the witch was more thematically appropriate I pushed all of these videos to November. So by the time this is uploaded I will have already gone to the RenFest and finished this costume. However, please don't take that to mean I don't want suggestions! Any suggestions or advice you give will be noted for next year so please fire away. This week I'm starting with stays and a chemise since stays are by far the most fun part and the chemise is kind of a necessity. The stays are much more late 1700s than anything renaissance but they seem super popular as part of the standard "wench" costume so I thought it would be a useful garment to have for future RenFests! Plus they're cute so living my best life Skip Ahead: 0:00 Intro 2:03 Sketches 3:27 Pattern 4:50 Cutting the Stays Mockup 5:31 Sewing the Stays Mockup 6:08 Stays Mockup Fitting 9:13 Stays Lining 10:17 Cutting Stays Outer Fabric 10:51 Stitching the Stays 10:59 Baby Bat 11:16 Stays Boning 11:41 Binding 13:29 Grommets 14:04 Lacing 14:41 Rain ASMR 15:06 Cutting the Chemise 17:18 Stitching the Chemise 17:34 French Seams 18:28 Elastic Neck 18:53 Chemise Reveal 19:15 Stays Reveal 19:32 Discussion 22:37 Outro š· Filming Gear: ā My camera - https://amzn.to/3sQBLrb ā Microphone - https://amzn.to/3sQC3hL ā Lighting - https://amzn.to/3kvMVxF ā Softbox - https://amzn.to/3BfEj52 All Music is from Epidemic Sound: (https://www.epidemicsound.com/referra...) āMagical Gardenā - Jon Algar āRobin Adairā - Bonnie Grace āThe Rain Against My Windowā - Johannes Bornlƶf āDelicate Transitionsā - Gavin Luke #costube #renfaire #stays #corset Insta: Ā Ā /Ā moth.faerieĀ Ā Links included in this description might be affiliate links.
