I nemici di Francesco, capitolo 3: Roberto De Mattei (parte prima)

Professor Roberto De Mattei, a professor of Christian history, reconstructs in the first part of this interview the reasons of Pope Francis’ opponents, highlighting the critical points in his management of Vatican affairs. “The consensus for Francis comes from the mass media,” he explains, “while in the church there is unease with his way of governing. He appears almost dictatorial, he has placed the Curia under special administration, bypassing the intermediate bodies. It is no coincidence that four cardinals have formulated dubia, requests for clarification on the exhortation Amoris Laetitia, in particular regarding the Eucharist for divorced people and the existence or otherwise of an absolute universal moral law. Francis often passes decisions on to priests: this generates tension, struggles and opposition; his task is to put an end to schisms and divisions, if he does not intervene it means he is not carrying out his mandate and it is best that he resign”
