I nemici di Francesco, capitolo 2: Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Mülller

“Making things clear.” This is the title of the conference that in the spring of 2017 brought together in Rome, a stone’s throw from the Vatican, some of the most stubborn critics of Pope Francis to denounce the “schism underway in the church” due to “different interpretations of fundamental dogmatic points such as the fact that marriage is indissoluble.” Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Muller explains why there is strong resistance within the clergy to Francis’s actions after the publication of the second apostolic exhortation entitled Amoris Laetitia: “For us, marriage is only a sacrament, with the conditions inserted into it by God himself. A second marriage is not possible for Christians. The Gospel must be taken in its entirety and the Holy Father cannot interpret it selectively.”
