EPISODE 17 - Farewell to Stromness Welcome to the seventeenth and final episode of The Orkney Series! Well, for this series anyway... FARA members, Jeana and Kristan, have been travelling around the islands the band are lucky enough to call home, having a blast of some Orcadian tunes and songs in the very places that inspired their names! We hope you enjoyed the journey along with us. We'll leave you with a stunning air, this time from the pen of the late Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, a resident of Orkney for many years. His piece ‘Farewell to Stromness’ was originally written for piano, but Catriona has adapted it for three fiddles. It's a well-known melody that a few folk have asked us to play over the years, and we're only too delighted to be able to do that in this final episode of the series.
