Früh aufstehen: Macht richtig schlafen schlau und erfolgreich? | Experiment | Einstein | SRF Wissen

Are early risers more productive? "Einstein" conducts the experiment! For two weeks, the alarm clock rings at 5 a.m. How does this affect hormones, memory, and creativity? And what does research say? Does getting up early really make you smarter and more successful? 🔔 Subscribe now to SRF Wissen on YouTube 👉    / @srfwissen   ⏰ A new episode of "Einstein" every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. More about the video ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– What's the truth behind the myth that early risers are more successful, healthier, and happier? Bähram Alagheband is a self-confessed late riser. But for this experiment, he has to get up at 5 a.m. every day for two weeks. Will he become more productive, more focused—or just tired and irritable? And what happens to his body clock when the alarm clock suddenly rings so early? Does it adjust and release sleep hormones earlier? Chronobiologist Christian Cajochen is scientifically monitoring the experiment. Is it possible to radically change the body clock? Smarter through sleep? During sleep, the brain processes what it has experienced and learned during the day. But what if our brain not only stores knowledge during sleep, but also problems during sleep? "Einstein" puts it to the test: Can Bähram Alagheband go to bed with a difficult problem he couldn't solve and find a solution in the morning? Sleep researcher Björn Rasch explains why the brain is particularly creative during sleep and how targeted sleep can even help break stuck thought processes. So, is it possible to wake up in the morning with a new idea? How sleep shapes our lives from the very beginning How does a mother's sleep habits affect a baby's sleep? Researchers at the University of Freiburg are investigating how regular sleep in the mother affects the rhythm of the unborn child. And how deep sleep and brain development are connected.
