Einstein's exclusive experiment shows what the use of AI like ChatGPT does to our brains. It examines the impact of AI on our hormones and how we will need to learn in the future. And: Einstein reveals how schools, teachers, and AI developers intend to preserve our cognitive abilities. ► Essay by Kathrin Hönegger: https://www.srf.ch/wissen/kuenstliche... ► Essay by Tobias Müller: https://www.srf.ch/wissen/kuenstliche... The Creator Lisa Richenberger (18) has developed her own artificial intelligence (AI). The AI can tell her whether her room is tidy or not. Behind this seemingly simple question lie numerous decisions and data points. She is part of the AI Challenge at ETH Zurich, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. Fiona Könz, who oversees the challenge at ETH, says it's important for the young researchers to experiment and go through a process. "Einstein" will show whether Lisa wins the challenge or not. The Science of Technology Zurich*, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, is a part of the AI Challenge. *The Researchers Are language-based AI models already as good as our brains? Gonçalo Guiomar conducts research at the AI Center of ETH Zurich. His data now shows that AI is almost as successful as our human brain when it comes to remembering and learning. If we use AI not as a tool, but as a substitute for thinking, we risk unlearning a great deal. The Practitioner AI is also a central topic at the Zurich University of Teacher Education (PHZ). How do we teach AI? Which AI should students be allowed to use? From what age is it sensible to use AI in schools? These and other questions are on the minds of teachers when it comes to AI in schools. The Result Based on a study by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Einstein uses a writing experiment to demonstrate the effect of AI on our brains. The experiment shows that the deeper and more comprehensively our brain engages with a topic, the more satisfied we are with our performance.
