Eastern Arabia: New Insights into Late Antiquity by Christian Robin, Emeritus Research Director, CNRS, UMR 8167 - Orient and Mediterranean - Semitic Worlds. Lecture at the symposium "Bahrain and its Neighbors," in conjunction with the exhibition "From Dilmun to Tylos: An Archaeological Journey to the Kingdom of Bahrain," given on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the Michel Laclotte Auditorium. The presentations at this symposium explored various themes, including exchanges, funerary practices, and cultural transfers among the different civilizations of the Gulf in antiquity. The symposium "Bahrain and its Neighbors" was part of two major events focusing on Bahrain's heritage at the Louvre Museum. Find the complete program here: https://www.louvre.fr/en-ce-moment/ev... The exhibition “From Dilmun to Tylos,” which opened on October 6, 2022, presents an exceptional loan of some seventy works from the Bahrain National Museum, in Room 230, at the heart of the collections of the Department of Near Eastern Antiquities. In 2022, the Louvre Museum was also entrusted with the direction of an archaeological excavation in Bahrain at the Abu Saiba site (director: J. Cuny, DAO). The symposium is supported by the French Center for Research on the Arabian Peninsula (CEFREPA) and the Archaeology and Sciences of Antiquity Laboratory (ArScAn). - Follow us on social media!
