Epic Drum Solo Duet Ken Loomer (USA) Kosuke Takaoka (Japan)

This is the 2nd time that my good friend Kosuka Takaoka from Japan has visited me at my house in Florida. He is a great drummer and we had a wonderful time together. In this drum duet that we did, Kosuke is playing my 1970 Slingerland Buddy Rich drum set with the 24x14 inch bass drum, 9x13 tom, two 16x16 floor toms, and the rare Slingerland 4x14 BR model snare drum with the straight edge hoops. I`m playing on my custom made Pearl Masters drum set with the 24x14 inch bass drum, 9x13 tom, two 16x16 floor toms, 5.5x14 Pearl Masters snare drum with custom straight edge hoops, 7x10 and 9x12 side toms, and a rare 5x12 Pearl Sensitone side snare drum. All cymbals on both sets are A Zildjians. We started doing our drum duet trading 8 bars before we each did our open drum solo. To me Kosuke Takaoka is a world class drummer who has amazing drum technique and great feel for the jazz music he plays. While I am well over 40 years older than Kosuke, we both have the same love of this style of drumming which is exciting and dynamic to play. So wonderful to see this great young drum artist from Japan learning about the classic jazz drummers of the past, and more important swinging so much to this music we call jazz.
