Riding Phoenix Valley Metro Rail Eastbound (train model: Kinki Sharyo Low Floor Light Rail Vehicle) from 19th Avenue/Dunlap Station (Northwest of Phoenix) to 3rd Street/Jefferson (Downtown Phoenix). At this segment, this rail line passes through several point of interests between Northwest Phoenix to Downtown: Midtown Phoenix, Phoenix Art Museum, Heard Museum, Margaret T. Hance Park, Arizona State University (ASU) Downtown Campus, and Downtown Phoenix. As of 2022, the full fare ride is $2.00 one way and $4.00 Day Pass (Local bus or Metro Rail only). FUTURE: Northwest Expansion Phase II- In the future, Valley Metro is planning to expand this segment of the rail line. First, Valley Metro will expand the rail line to northwest of Phoenix and terminate at a closed down mall called Metro Center. The future is unknown about this mall. Second Rail Line- Second, Valley Metro is planning to convert this current rail line to a new rail line. At this moment, Valley Metro has one line that travels east/west. The east/west line will split. The train traveling east/west will serve from Downtown to Tempe/Mesa. The new line will be northwest to south line. Currently, Valley Metro is building the southern segment of the rail line. This project is expected to be completed by 2024.
